Appen Media Group (AMG) is a family owned news media company located in the Northern suburbs of Atlanta. The company was founded in 1990 by Ray and Christina Appen - two veteran newspaper executives - both formerly with Knight-Ridder/Miami Herald. While they continue to work in the company, it is now led by the second generation of Appens, Publisher Hans Appen and Director of Business Development Carl Appen.
AMG began with a core focus on professionally produced local journalism ranging from government, schools, business and crime, to lifestyle news reporting and features. That core mission remains the same today and Appen Media strives to focus on the creation and professional production of credible, unbiased, and timely community journalism that is now disseminated through a wide spectrum of print, audio and digital platforms.
The AMG product portfolio includes a core of five weekly newspapers with a combined home-delivered circulation of 93,000 copies distributed in the most affluent region of Georgia, including the Atlanta suburbs of Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Roswell, Johns Creek, Milton, and south Forsyth County. AMG provides a competitive advantage in print and digital media in the region in terms of market penetration and community trust. The brand is anchored in the trust and partnership with the communities it serves.
Today, AMG assets have been expanded to include websites, a network of podcasts, community guides, community events, event management, newsletters, custom publications, full service brand development, creative design and production of niche publications.
